Rick and Irene Lange recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. Irene is originally from Illinois, while Rick is from California.
As a couple they have lived in several places both in and out of the US, but they still call Blue Ridge their “home church.” As some of BRCC’s earliest members they have been part of the church since the early ‘90s.
The Langes’ commitment to missions took shape after attending a Southern Baptist Conference missions conference in the US. Later it was strengthened by participating in a missions trip to Haiti as college students.
Since those early years, Rick and Irene have been faithfully involved in direct evangelism, rural development, and health care in some of the most difficult areas of the world including Haiti, the Sudan, and rural Kenya.
Rick is highly trained and well-respected as a specialist in training for cross-cultural ministry. Irene uses her skills as a registered nurse in much of their work. Rick has been vitally involved on the board of One Another Ministries International since its inception. Both he and Irene are temporarily serving full-time with the One Another team in California. They lived and worked in Kenya for 15 years and would love to someday return there.
Rick is currently recovering from extensive surgery to remove Mesothelioma, a form of cancer that is almost always caused by previous exposure to asbestos. For Rick, that happened years ago when he was serving in the Navy and working in the engine rooms of ships. The doctors feel like they were able to remove all the cancer, but Rick will now have to undergo 5-6 weeks of daily radiation treatments. Please join us as we support Rick & Irene with love and prayers during this very difficult time.
